The Joy of Horse Breeding in FarmVille
FarmVille as mentioned in a past article is a great time sink letting even far removed city folk experience the toil and maintenance of a farm. Each thing down to crops and each animal has a specific way to be maintained and groomed to produce money making crops and farm livestock.
Horses in FarmVille are a bit harder to get, they are not available for 'farmcash' but have to be gifted from a neighbor. The randomness of this makes waiting for a gifted horse a bit lengthy. But once you have a few horses under your belt (or gained a few foals from very generous neighbors), you can start to breed horses.

Breeding Horses isn't as bad as it sounds.

When a horse is left outside, it takes three in game days for it to produce horse hair. But in a stable it takes them 1 day…either way, the waiting time rewards you 50 coins for their hair. Breeding also has a chance of netting you experience and extra farmhands. This alone pays for the time taken to get them to breed. Many simply cram all their horses in the stable and wait patiently for whatever results.
But maybe you want more. Maybe you want not only the perk of gathering horse hair, but to produce rare breeds that will net you many kinds of hair and make you the hit of your neighbors. Well then, prepare to get your hands dirty.
As long as you have a Stallion and to pair off with him a rare breed horse then you're good to go. Also instead of placing them all the horses inside the stable, make sure at first they are all outside. They should only breed within the stable and mature outside it.

Prepare your stable.

To start, make sure your stable is empty. Keep eye on your common horses still outside; when they are at 33-34% ready to harvest you will be placing them in the stable, one at a time. This will push the stable to 100% ready to harvest. So pick one common breed horse and move it to the stable to make it immediately ready to harvest.

Time to start placing in some rare breeds.

Harvest the horse just placed inside the stable. Then leave said horse inside. Place any rare special breed horses into the stable. It doesn't matter on their readiness as long as they are inside before the stallion.
Then place inside your stallion. When ready, click on the stable to begin the process. Once you get a message you can either earn money, experience, farmhands, or a new foal. Clearing out the stables and moving another common horse at 33-34% ready will allow you to do the process repeatedly till you're out of common mares to swap in.
