So, you’ve read about the new look for Facebook’s news feed and want to try it yourself? Here’s how.
The new look is rolling out today to those who request it. Go here to do that, and use the “Try the new look” button:
After you’ve done that, you’ll get a confirmation:
Then it’s waiting time. When you’re in, you’ll see a message in at the top of your feed:
The last part is nice. If you decide you prefer the old look, you can switch back.
Facebook’s Chris Cox, vice president of
product, says there’s no set timeline on how long it will take after
someone requests the new look to when they get it — nor any for when it
will automatically be rolled out for everyone.
He stressed that Facebook wanted to be very
cautious about introducing such a big home page change to users, and
that’s also why there’s the “switch to Old Design” option, for those who
might feel they need to escape back into the more familiar, if they
feel overwhelmed.
But eventually, everyone will get the new
look, regardless of whether they requested it — and eventually, the
switch back option will disappear, as Facebook would find it too hard to
support both, he said.
